Tigers are Champs!

Hopefully you all can read what that trophy says. It says my generically named softball team were Wednesday night champs! I have not won a trophy since pee-wee soccer. Brick played 1B all season and hit out of the 2 hole.
Here are Brick's stats:
Regular season: .451 BA - 11 RBI's - 15 Runs - 3 walks
Playoffs: .500 BA - 4 RBI's - 4 Runs
We are now gearing up for a run at the Tuesday night championship in the Fall session. Short off season.

4th of July (late)

We went to Grandville for the 4th of July. It was awesome.


As Brick said - great fireworks in Grandville. This was taken from the cemetery where we sat to enjoy the 'works. (Editor's note: Auntie Gina told me I originally spelled cemetery wrong (spelled c-e-m-e-t-A-r-y originally))

The Week That Was...

-Been in the D all week for work/training/cake/bbq.

-Above and below are pix that Kate took at their bbq last Monday.

-Smalz, ERB and I went to the beach on Sunday with the all of the Everetts. They are renting a cottage on Lake Michigan. It was vury niiice!!!

-ERB did not like the lake so much. She screamed when we got her near the water. I did NOT scream as the lake was magnificent. Thanks Everett's for having us over!

-PS-Happy belated birfday to Linda!!

Fourth of July Highlights

-Phiul, GB, Smalz and myself took ERB to her first baseball game last Thursday night. The Caps won 6-1. The picture above is GB w/ERB at Fifth Third Park.
-Had ribs, corn, pie etc. on Wednesday. Delicious.
-Tigers swept the Red Sox over the weekend.
-Put in a new laundry room floor last weekend.
-Grandville puts on a heck of a fireworks show. ERB slept through it.
-Chauncey is still a Piston. Whew...

Have not been updating ya'll on ERB news lately so here is some of the latest:

ERB is now taking swimming lessons at the Y. See above proof. Thursday was our first class. We learned nothing other than ERB did not scream during her first visit to the pool.

Here is ERB drying off poolside after class. Quite a workout.

No, ERB is not piloting a flight simulator, she is simply sitting naked in her height chair.

*Tigers head to the durty south this weekend to play the Braves. My immediate family has been waiting for this for quite some time due to the fact that my Aunt Rosey is a HUGE Braves fan. She always has something to say about how great they are. Well, we'll see about that, we shall see...

Bigs on TV

Last night, Smalz and I watched some Katt Williams stand up, which was hilarious. Right after it ended, I flipped on the Tigers game. Coming out of commerical, I believe before the 7th inning, they were showing some Tiger fans in the crowd. And lookey who they chose to put on TV. BIG'EMs and KATE. After seeing this, I immediately called Bigs and told him that he was on television. He did not believe me until I sent him this picture. Absolutely hilarious.

PS-I saved this in my DVR and will try to post a video of the entire thing later. I think I heard Rod say that Matt was a "slob" but maybe I heard it wrong.

Gambler in GR

Tigers Playoff legend Kenny "The Gambler" Rogers was in GR for a rehab start with the Whitecaps last night. It was billed as the biggest night in Whitecaps history. There was over 10k fans on hand to check this shizzle out. Kenny pitched pretty well, the defense was extra sucky behind him as the Caps' lost 10-0 to make it seven straight losses. No good for a team that won the MWL Championship last year. We had some excellent seats though. Peep these pix I took...

Wow!

-In case you live in a cave, history was made last night in downtown Detroit. Justin Verlander threw a no hitter.

-I found myself glued to the couch, afraid to get up to go to the bathroom due to old baseball superstitions. I also only flipped to Comedy Central during the commercials. That seemed to work for me.

-The first time I have ever sat and watched a pitcher throw a no-no.

-That guy is sick! And he is ONLY 24!!

-12 k's (career high)

-edit: Bigs, Storch and Grems, yes GREMS were all at the game last night.

-There has not been a no-no in Detroit since 52' (Virgil Trucks) Actually had 2 that year.

-The last one in Tiger history was 84' (Jack Morris).

-Smalz and I are going to see Kenny Rogers pitch a rehab start for the Whitecaps on Friday night. Stadium is SOLD OUT. We are sitting 3rd row next to the dug-out (Damn Brick, those are some nasty seats!!). I will provide pictures of said event this weekend.

ERB news:

-Smalz and ERB are visiting Nanny Kathy and Unkie Derek. He is off to Japan for a few years to defend our freedom.

-House is quiet without Emmy. I miss her (and mommy too...)

-Softball game tonite.

-New car ordered and due to be here next month. That is fast.

-The movie "The Fountain" is pretentious and not that good.

Check out the expression on ERB's face. Even she is amazed that LeBron was able to dunk or get to the cup for a layup AT WILL last night! I'll be watching on Saturday night, but I don't have much confidence in our squad after what LeBron did last night. 29 out of the Cavs last 30 points!!! Holy crap, Jordan never did anything like that.

PS-Tigers can't beat Cleveland either. 4 straight losses to Tribe, 4 straight losses to Cavs. Cleveland OWNS us right now. HOPEFULLY we can turn that shizzle around this weekend.
