Nov 28-More

The first one is me with Emerson. Taken last night. The next two were taken 7 minutes ago.

Nov 28-Phiul Is Scaring Me!

Phiul is crazy. Look for yourself (pictured below). What is he doing to Emerson? For the last 2 days, he has sent me threatening emails and comments to this blog. He demands new pictures at all hours of the day. So here you go Phiul,

Here is a new one of Emerson. (Below)

Here is Skip looking at Emerson. (Below)

Here is Emerson looking at Skip. (Below)

Hope this is enough for now. Geez.

Nov 28-Work

No cute pictures or visitors to discuss. Today is my first day back at work, and let me tell you, this sucks. I wish I could be at home for the rest of the year and go back after the new year. Unfortunately, that is not how it goes at the corporate machine (mackine!) where I work. Pisser. Anyway, that is all for now, back at work providing for my family, the way a good daddy does.

Nov 27-Grandpappys

I've been proded by sometimes contributor, Phiul, to get this blog updated with some new pictures. So here you go... an ode to the grandfathers:

Dr. Ray Byers with Emerson on Thanksgiving. He's not really a doctor, he just thinks he is.

Grandpa Andreas aka "Pop Pop".Not pictured, ERB, but she was near by.

John "The Deer Hunter" Medeiros with Emerson. He also goes by the alias"Grampy". I have some video of the Bowie/Emerson meeting that I plan to post soon.

Nov 24-First Night/Andreas Visit

Smalz and I were able to make it through the first night without much issue. On Friday, the Seddons stopped over with Jaxson to enjoy some french fries. Then the Andreas' came over.

Pictured above are Nanny, Pop Pop and PFC (Private First Class) Derek Andreas. D has just returned from Parris Island this week after Marine boot camp. He shared some fantastic stories about his experiences. Pictured below is PFC Andreas in action:

Nov 23-Happy Thanksgiving!

Baby came home today, just in time for the kickoff of the Lions game. What a way to spend yer first Thanksgiving. Watching Joey Ballgame torch us in our own house. Anyway, the extended Myers family was over, we had Meijer (a milion reasons, a single store) make us some traditional T-giving cuisine. It was great. Hope all you enjoyed your holiday. I look forward to speaking with some of yous in the coming days via the telephone device. Good night for now...

Nov 22-Quickly

My brother Phiul was kind enough to register www.brickmyers.com for me. So now, if you would like to return to this site ever again, that is all you have to type in to yer compumachine. You can leave off the blogspot part, that part is lame anyway. That is all I got for now, got lots to do. Mommy and baby will be coming home tomorrow morning. I should be able to check in then.

Nov 21-Unauthorized post

More from Phiul... I still have Brick's password and login, so I've hacked in.

The extended Myers family was able to visit the baby girl today and can confirm that she is beautiful. 10 fingers and toes. 2 hands and 2 feet. 1 head. Everything checks out. I took a load of photos today and thought these would be a couple good ones to share. Enjoy!

Nov 21 (I Think)-Brick Checking In

Hello to all. First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your warm wishes. Very much appreciated. Also, Thanks to Phiul for updating this inter-space page with the picture and information on Emerson. I just came home to pick up a few items and check in on Bozo. Then it is back to the hospital for Brick. Emerson was born at 6:30 am on monday November 20th. Labor was long and tough, I will tell the entire story of the birf this weekend when I have more time. Here is what you are all waiting for, quality pictures of Emerson (Baby A) Rae Byers.

Brick and Emerson right after birth.

Mommy (Smalz) and Emerson.

Emerson w/comb.

Emerson close up.

Burping Baby A.

Dad (very tired) rocking Emerson.
That is really all I have time for. Rest assured, there will be plenty more pictures/video to come. I have to email about 100 people right now and then go back to the hospital. Phiul, GB, Ray and Linda will be there soon. Stay tuned for more...

Nov 20-The baby has arrived!

A message from Phiul...

I've been authorized to make an announcement about the addition of baby girl Byers!

Emerson Rae Byers was born around 6:30AM on November 20. She is 7lbs, 12ozs and 20 inches long. (A good-sized kid. But between you and me I thought she would have been about 14lbs after cooking for 10 extra days.) As of this morning Ryan and Tara sound exausted but healthy. And they're probably looking forward to some sleep with their new daughter.

CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the world Emerson!

Here's a photo from Ryan's phone...

Nov 19-TODAY IS THE DAY

A post from Phiul...

I just talked with Brick. He and Tara went to the hospital around 3:30 Michigan time after Tara's water broke earlier today. As of about 6:15, they were all checked in and were experiencing contractions about 2-3 minutes apart. All signs point to a new family member by midnight. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, here is one of their last photos as a twosome:

P.S. You can now use www.BrickMyers.com to get here...

Nov 19-Same

Went to bed early on Saturday. Woke up around 3am, was up until about 4:30 timing contractions. Smalz is still having them with little regularity. We will be going on a walk in a bit. Hopefully that will speed things along.

Nov 18-No Fun

I feel like cursing up a blue streak. No baby, and no U of M win. I am sooooo sick of this team losing to the Buckeyes every year. Contractions still sporadic at best. This will probably be my last post of the day, unless we are up all night timing contractions. Sleep now.

Nov 18-Continued Part Deux

The last 3 contractions have all been 37 minutes apart. Things seem to be slowing down. Hopefully will speed up soon.

Nov 18-Continued

Contractions have varied from 8 minutes to 37 minutes apart. Right now, it is all over the map. Been sleeping a bit, wake up to time contraction, then fall back asleep. Been up since 4:30. We are in a holding pattern for now, I should be able to check back later.

Nov 18-Today Could Be The Day

Good morning. First, I must say that yesterday's post-appointment post was not entirely true. Smalz had been feeling some "cramping" ie. contractions in the early morning, then a few more later on in the day. Here is a picture of what a contraction looks like on the NST machine (ma-kine).
So, last night at about 11:15, Smalz lost her mucus plug. Gross, I know, but you want updates, you got em'. Stronger contractions have been occuring ever since. Currently we are about 10 minutes apart. I will try to check back with you all later on today. Fingers crossed.

Nov 17-More Of The Same

Do you recognize this picture? It is a picture of the NST from today. Not much to say. Baby's heartrate is great and the baby is active and moving around frequently. Another is scheduled for Tuesday. Seems that Baby A is stubborn, just like its mother. I say 'it' because at this point that is what 'it' is. Also, be sure to check out my new favorite online rag...e.

Sad News

Bo Schembechler has passed. I feel horrible. On the eve of arguibly the biggest game in Michigan's history. RIP Bo. OSU no longer stands a chance. If I were a Buckeye fan, I would be very scared right now. Prediction: Michigan-34 OSU-6

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!

Nov 16-Brickmyers Hotline

First, let me apologize for not living up to my promise of checking in daily. I know that I said I would, but some times it rains...just not babies from my wife's womb. Which brings me to the next bit of business, the update: There has been no sign of labor. Nothing has changed, Smalz feels great. So there, now you know. Leaving Traverse City today, I received a series of phone calls commencing at 3 pm. First to ring was Big Bodi, he was looking for an update, I told him that there was no word and apologized for not checking in with all/both of my loyal readers here. Next was Linda, she mainly wanted to know what I want for Christmas. I told her that I have no idea. While that intense convo was happening, Phiul left me a voice mail demanding an update. I called him back but he was busy, so I spoke with GB for a bit and gave her the same info I had given to the previous 2 callers. So in summary, I was on the road all day taking calls on the Brickmyers hotline answering questions about how to celebrate the birth of our lord, and Baby A updates. Smalz has another NST tomorrow afternoon at 3pm, I will try to provide an update after the appointment. That is all. Sleep now.

November 14-Non Stress Test

Smalz and I went to see the doctor today to get a Non Stress Test. This test measures is the baby's heart-rate and weather contractions are ocurring. The heart-rate was normal and there were no contractions detected. Smalz will have another one on Friday and yet another next Tuesday, unless the baby comes out before then.
They also did an ultrasound to check the fluid levels. All of the levels are normal. Pictured above is Smalz hooked up to the NST machine, pictured below is the NST machine. What is crazy is that the due date was Nov 10. We have been waiting for that day since March when we found out that we are going to have a baby. And now that the day has come and gone, it could literally be any moment now, which makes Brick very edgy. Every time Smalz groans, I have to ask a series of questions...
1. Did your water break?
2. Are you going into labor?
3. Are you having back labor?
4. Do you feel contractions?
5. Do we need to time it?
6. Does your back hurt?
7. Mucus plug?
8. Are you hungry?
9. Will there ever be peace in the Middle East?
And so on. I will continue to check in daily from here on in to keep you abreast (I love that word) of any and all B. America news.

The quality of these pictures is not so good because they were taken with my cell-phone, sorry, geez.

Maboomachump (And Kate) Pay The Myers a Visit

On Friday, Matt and Kate stopped by on their way through to a wedding in the land of Dairy. Where we live is NOT on the way. Matt and Kate were very nice to bring us gifts, flowers for Smalz and a World Series program for Brick. How thoughtful. After exchanging pleasantries, the four of us went to dinner at a way too hot pub. Seriously, it was about 98 degrees in there, without Nick Lachey (pop culture reference). We enjoyed a mediocre meal and returned to my homestead to play euchure (sp). Shortly thereafter, we went to bed. The Big'uns left early on Saturday morning, in hopes of making it to Wisconsin to see the wedding ceremony.
Meanwhile, Smalz and I rented movies and waited for the baby to come out. Sadly it didn't, and still has not as I write this. In summary, thanks for the gifts Matt and Kate. Hope you enjoyed yer stay at casa de Myers. That is Spanish for the Myers house. I took 4 years in high school. I am fluent.

Smalz At 10 Months

Here is Smalz and B. America (inside belly).

Due Date Is Here

Well, today is the official due date given to us back in March when we found out Smalz was packin' a baby. There have been no signs that the baby is coming soon, which is a bit disconcerting. Anyway, I received a package the other day from Knollwood legend and longtime Myers' friend Skip Lanterna. Here is a pic...

It is a glorious box of cigars that I would very much like to be handing out today. Muchos gracias to Skip and the Lanternas. I very much appreciate the gesture. Have another look...

While I am not much of a cigar smoker, I can't wait to light up one of these pretty ladies. That's about all I have to offer right now. Here is an appropriate song for Baby America. Bigs and Kate will be here later today. I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow...

Not Baby Related-Too Good NOT To Post

This is a picture of Jeff Jones, he is new bullpen coach for the Tigers, and also a man that should consider waxing. Look at that thing!!! Amazing!! Can't wait until next year....

Not Much To Say

Smalz went to the doctor yesterday, and nothing has changed. Still dialiated to 1cm and 50% efaced. Tomorrow is the actual due date, we are hoping that baby comes this weekend. Maybe Big Boy's shirt could send my wife into labor. She said that she laughed harder at Matt's shirt than the Borat movie.

Not Baby Related-I'm Gonna Be Sick

Sweet Mary mother of God!!!! I don't even know where to begin with this picture. What is Bigs wearing???? I know that he has a ruptured spleen, but I did not know that caused blindness. Who's idea was it to wear that? Are those pjamas? Did Prince give him that shirt? Morris Day? George Michael? Is that a tablecloth? Curtains? A vase from the Ming Dynasty? For those who watch Entourage, Tubs is a dead ringer for Vincent Chase (see small pic on left.) IT'S THE SAME PATTERN!!!!!! I have never, EVER seen anything so appalling in my entire life! If you read this Matt, we are no longer friends. Kate, if you are the one responsible for this, I guess I will be removing you from my X-mas card list as well. Geez, that is hideous.

PS-This was taken at Jackie's 30th Birfday party. Happy Day to you Dacki!! I lub you Dacki!! Sorry you had to look at this paisley monster on yer special day. I am scarred for life, and I wasn't even there!!!

No Labor- Thanks For Nothin' Borat

Heres how it goes...Smalz and I have been fans of Da Ali G Show for a few years now, and were very much anticipating seeing the Borat movie. If you are curious about Borat, or have never seen any of his comedic stylings, DON'T go see the movie. Go rent Da Ali G show instead, (it offers up much more than just Borat). What bothered me most is that the movie has a plot. I know, you are thinking, "gee Brick, aren't movies supposed to have a plot?" To which I say, "not this one". Go see it for yourself if you do not believe me. I throughly enjoy the Borat character, but not when he is given a shallow, predictable script that offers no suprises. The film did have its funny moments, but unfortunately, not enough to force Baby America from Smalz' womb. I suggested after the movie that we should have seen The Departed. Maybe Leo's good looks and charm can break my wifes water. Very niice!!!

Outdated Video Camera Test

This is a test of our new video camera. It was taken sometime in Sept. I told Smalz that I was not taping. Beautiful.

Laboring With Borat

Smalz and I are hoping to take in the Borat movie this weekend. We feel that if Smalz laughs hard enough, it could induce labor, or at least that is what we are hoping for. That would make glorious day in U.S & A. If nothing else, I will try to provide a review of the movie, for those of you who are interested.

The Countdown

The Tigs are now done and we can get on with the baby talk. Smalz went to the doc yesterday and she is dialiated (sp?) to 1cm and 50% efaced. The doc said that does not mean that the baby will be coming soon, it just means that the baby is coming....eventually. My official prediction for the arrival is Nov 3, which is tomorrow. Not looking good. The official due date is Nov. 10.

In other news, looks like the Bendernagels (Matt (ruptured spleen) and Kate) will be stopping by next Friday on their way to Milwaukee for Dan "I wrestled Kelly Larson" Clark's wedding. I know that I met that dude, but I don't remember. Smalz is the one who remembered him wrestling Kelly at Stacey/Yono/Kelly's apt. in the Zoo. Who knows? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
