WS Game 5:Pisser

Congrats to the 2006 World Series Champions...St. Louis Cardinals. Can't hate on them, they took advantage of ALL of our mistakes. They were the better team. I am not disappointed by the Tigers season, it was exciting as hell, however, it is just making me want next year to start already.
Now we move on to Baby/Pistons season. Should be full of excitement, unlike the Lions season.

WS Game 4:E1=Loss

Getting sick of watching different Tiger pitchers throw the ball into the outfield. Again, they played well enough to win last night. The reason for the Lou Brock pic is because this series could end up just like 68'. Tigers down 3-1 and come storming back to win in game 7. Help us Obi-Wan, you are our only hope...

Hilarious

This is possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen.

WS Game 3:Ouch!

The Tigers pitching was good enough to win last night. It was the defense and lack of hitting that did them in. 3 hits? We lit Carpenter up in June for 7 runs, and now, in the WORLD SERIES, we only put up 3 hits? Can't win like that. Today is another day. Bonderman vs. Suppan. Tigers have to make a move tonight, or else...

WS Game 2: (Pine)Tarred and Feathered

Who cares what was on Kenny's hand? It was only there for the first inning. Kenny is now at 23 scoreless innings (and counting) during the playoffs, after last nights' performance. This guy is becoming a Detroit legend in front of our eyes. Going to the Lou tied up 1-1. Can't wait for Tuesday night.

WS Game 1: What Big Muscles You Have

Tiger fans should never have expected to sweep this series. The Cards fought very hard to get to the World Series, and you should not think that they are not going to come ready to play. In my opinion, I think Leyland got out-managed last night, Verlander got out-pitched and the defense was horrible. We deserved to lose last night. Hopefully Chet Lemon will come out of retirement and save the day. We shall see...

Official World Series Prediction

I'm ready. The Skipper is ready. Are you ready? It's gameday in Motown and it's time for my official prediction, so without wasting anymore time, here it is... Tigers in 5.
I hope that Leyland is warming up to put himself in left field today. Just imagine him puffing away on Marlboros while Verlander works a 2-2 count to Pujols. Or making an unbelievable diving catch to take away extra bases from Juan Encarnacion (who I saw him get hit in the face by a pitch at old Tigers Stadium the day before it closed.) Enjoy the game today Tigers fans, I know I will.

State of the Blog: Tigers or Baby?

I initially started this blog to get some pictures and video of the baby to family and friends who are interested in looking at that type of thing. HOWEVER, the Tigers begin the World Series tomorrow against the Cards, and that has been on my mind just as much as the baby/wife. AND, the baby is still baking in the oven that is my wife's gut. So not much to say about it unless you want to look at pics of the nursery or my mom in the nursery (pictured above). I even came up with a great name for the baby...Maggliobottomoftheninthwalkoffhomeruntowinthepennant Byers. I think it works for a boy or a girl.

So rest assured, this here web thingee will be revolving around the baby soon, AFTER the Tigers are done playing, or the baby comes out, which ever comes first. Due date is Nov. 10.

Next post: Official World Series prediction. Stay tuned...

Game 4: Sweep

You know what happened. I witnessed it in person and STILL can't believe it.

Game 3: I Can't Believe This

Kenny Rogers is amazing. Tigers are amazing.

Game 2: Leyland is a Genius

Who dosen't want to hug Jim Leyland right now? The guy can do no wrong. He put Alexis Gomez in last night for Thames and he goes nuts with 4 RBI's. Leyland has yet to make a mistake in the post season so far. Up 2-0 coming home, it is going to be a crazy weekend in the Motor City. Can't wait...

Game 1: Tigers Pitching is Nasty

Not much to say except that Robertson came up huge in the Game 1 victory. Striking out the side in the 4th with no outs and bases loaded. The pitching staff has only given up 4 runs in the last 3 games. Can't do much better than that. Verlander takes the mound tonight. Let's just imagine coming to the D up 2 games. We shall see...

ALCS Prediction and Hilarious Tigers Themed Photos

I never thought that I would be making an ALCS prediction that involved the Tigers, but the time has come. The A's are a team much like the Tigers, young pitching, a solid line up with some veteran leadership, and a pretty nice bullpen. BUT, the Tigers are riding a wave of momentum after beating the Yankees and I believe Jim Leyland has his team believing that they ARE contenders, no matter what they say on ESPN or other crappy media outlets. So here it is:
Tigers in 5. They will split the first 2 games in Oak-town and the Tigers will come home to take care of business, just like they did against the Yanks. Bold? Yes, but if you are looking for me to predict a Tigers loss in this series, you best look elsewhere.

Now here are a few Tigers themed photos for your viewing pleasure. The first is one I like to call "2 Chets". It is pretty self explanatory. One of the dudes in this picture is Phiul (which one?). The second is one called "Dad Fidrych". It is Mr. Ugli's dad back in his minor league days. Or just a funny photoshopped picture. You decide.

Untitled post

I was fortunate enough to witness the both of the games at Comerica Park this weekend. When trying to come up with a appropriate title for this post I thought of "Unbelieveable" or "Remarkable". I'm not much of a wordsmith. Both are pretty generic and neither truly sum up the scene this weekend in the Motor City. Which is why this post is untitled. I really can't think of anything witty to say about what I witnessed. By now, everyone knows about the heroics of The Gambler and Bonderman, and the clutch hitting of just about every player in the Tiger lineup. Your humble author (and probably much of the state) is speechless over what went down this weekend.
Also, looking through the photo galleries on the Detroit News website, Mlive and even the pictures that Matt & Kate sent, I could not decide which to use, so I picked the one with Leyland being carried off the field. It was one of the numerous highlights from the weekend. My only hope is that this scene is repeted a few more times this year. Still have a long way to go, stay tuned Tiger fans...
PS-Hate to gloat, but you will notice that my prediction before the series started was accurate, Tigers in 4. Tomorrow I will make my official ALCS prediction.

Comin' Home!

Tigers tie the series today 1-1 after an amazing win over the Yanks in the Bronx. I felt as if I was going to have a heart attack durning the 9th inning, but Todd Jones was able to make a 1 run lead stand up. Unbelievable!!!!
This weekend will be a special one in Detroit as the Tigers come home to for the first ever playoff games in Comerica Park. More to come on the Tigers....and the baby too.

More toile???????

A toile themed baby shower broke out at the Byers' house a few weeks ago after the cake eating convention was put on hold. The participants are pictured above (guess who the odds on favorite was). If you don't know what toile is, look here. I have nothing more to say about this.

It's on!!!

Look at these guys, do they look scared? They look like they just took someone out Luca Brasi style and dug a hole in upstate New York. Today is the opening of the 2006 MLB playoffs and our beloved Detroit Tigers are in the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees. Before I give my official prediction, I would like to say something. Remember the 2004 NBA finals? Pistons vs. Lakers? I liken this Tiger team to the Pistons of that year. First year coach Larry Brown was supposed to come in a mold the team into winners. Which Leyland has also done. No one gave the Pistons a chance against the Lakers at all, including many in Detroit. The Pistons went on the destroy the Lakers in 5 games. Same story here with the Yankees. I feel like the Tigers are getting ZERO respect and it is time that the Tigers show the jerks at that jerk store ESPN and the rest of the eastern seaboard what we do in the D.
Official prediction: Tigers in 4
PS-Why is Leyland's hand in his pants?
